Ever Nightfall
My journey into virtual worlds didn’t begin with Second Life. Misty memories of Runescape, IMVU, and World of Warcraft come to mind. If it was at my fingertips, it’s likely I gave it a gander. A 2007 news article that made me scoff and drove me to fact check the ridiculous claims it made introduced me to Second Life. where I claimed my first name, Triana Mills.
My first years were a blur of role playing. Midian City and the drama that unfolded in and out of character were my virtual home until I fell on hard times and began desperately searching for a virtual income that might help me in the real world. I was hired on at an escort club when text escorting was still all the rage and followed my then manager from club to club, eventually taking on management roles of my own. This experience took me into night clubs, zyngo hosting, and vampire clans.
When finally I moved on from seeking an income on the platform, I returned to my one true love: role playing. I found my new home in The Realm of Mystara and was there nearly every day until the sim eventually closed. I joined it’s sequel sim for several months before ultimately stepping away from role play at large when I was offered work shooting advertisements for and managing the store Violetility. It was there that I found blogging and my love for it, where I began the process of finding my style. Over the years, I’ve taken on very few official sponsors. Violetility, AsteroidBox, Distorted Dreams, Amias, Red Light District, Seydr. Eventually, it felt like work and not like creative enjoyment, so I took on a policy of “no sponsors” and focused on blogging only for stores I felt a very special connection with, in an unofficial capacity.
Today, those stores are Chronic Cosmetics, Mysteria, and Violetility, with the one event I try to focus on during the year being Fantasy Faire. I don’t join teams or take on deadlines, but I do love supporting the hard work and beautiful creations of the above named. My blogging varies depending on where my head is and what my energy levels are at any given moment. As someone with chronic conditions managing a wide array of mental health struggles, I will always place priority on my physical and mental needs over my blogging. That being said, you’ll more often see basic credited blogging here. When I do have the energy and the ideas swirling around, you’ll also get comic style blogs full of silliness, dedicated product reviews, and social commentaries.
